To you: An overly eclectic mix of completely non traditional Christmas songs.
I have close to a good 200 Christmas songs now that I've collected over the years and collected into a mean 5 disc set at this point. A lot of traditional ones and a ton of crazy indie stuff. What are your favorite Christmas songs? Post a list! Anything I HAVE to hear right now? I'm always looking for more! |

I don't have a huge collection, but some ones I really like are
Father Christmas - The Kinks That was the worst Christmas ever - Sufjan Stevens I believe in father christmas - Greg Lake Santa Claus blew right through town - Adam Kempa Christmas Wrapping - The Waitresses
Thank you for posting those songs to download!
Father Christmas by the Kinks = awesome...I love that one too as well as everything by Sufjan. I have yet to hear the Greg Lake and Adam Kempa songs though...I'll keep an ear out. And I totally dig Christmas Wrapping by The Waitresses. Awesome.
And your welcome...;)
that greg lake song is great! it's so important sounding towards the end there. :)
hahah yeah! it gets pretty epic!
aw thanks a ton! That Greg Lake song is amazing!
Thanks a lot for sharing!
If you're in the mood for kitschy stuff, you must look for music by Lalo Guerrero y las Ardillitas.Basicly they were the Mexican rip-off of Alvin & The Chipmunks only that they sang Xmas carols mostly.Really silly music but it's classic around here (personally,I still own some 33rpm and 45rpm records).
wow that sounds very kitschy...if I can dig it u I'll give it a listen!
Christmas, baby please come home - as performed by the New Bomb Turks, has always put a smile on my face.
my ears will be open! Thanks!
aw, chad! i've been collecting christmas songs for years now too! fairytale of new york is one my favorites and i din't know stars covered it. awesome!
i really want to recommend some stuff for you but i'm crazy busy right now. you probably have most of these anyhow but please remind me to tell you more if you're interested!
very quickly, off the top of my iPod:
Jars of Clay- Christmas for Cowboys (they just came out with a whole album which is actually pretty good).
Eisley- The Winter Song
Rilo Kiley- Xmas Cake
Flaming Lips- A Change at Christmas
just bought KT Tunstall's new Christmas EP. it's great for even the non KT Tunstall fan! Mele Kalikimaka alone is worth the seven bucks.
and your favorite band Travis covered River. :)
i have a TON!
Mike! I'm glad someone else enjoys the same seasonal hobby as me! Of your mentions I need to hunt down the Jars, Eisley, and the other Flaming Lips song. KT's Mele Kalikimaka is awesome! It was a great find, glad you feel the same. We'll have to do an exchange of sorts. I do my best not to repeat a lot of songs(like two versions of Silent Night) but it's becoming unavoidable at this point!
Travis ALSO has an original Christmas song they did for a BBC morning show called Alone on Christmas...it's tops!;)

I don't think I could even compete with the massive amounts of Xmas mixes this year. Just wandering through the blogs this year, I've managed to triple the size of my catalogue. What I do seem to have a lot of are Hanukkah songs, which I've posted on my blog...enjoy!
